Insect Screening Materials
Phifer Wire Products, Inc
The screening materials we provide are manufactured by Phifer Wire Products, Inc. Phifer Wire Products was established in 1952 as a weaver of aluminum insect screening in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Today the company manufactures and supplies a broad line of precision woven products throughout the 50 United States and in over 100 countries worldwide.
There are two basic types of screening -- Insect Control and Sun Control screening. Insect screening is defined by the material used to make it. There are four common materials used -- Fiberglass, Aluminum, Polyester and Bronze.
Insect Screening
PHIFERGLASS® fiberglass screening is woven from permanent
glass yarn which has been coated with a protective vinyl to ensure lasting
beauty, color and flexibility. Phiferglass® is
noncombustible and will not rust, corrode or stain. Lightweight and economical,
it comes in several different weaves and thread diameters.
PHIFERGLASS® 18 x 16 Fiberglass Insect Screening
Used for window screens and screen doors. Uses .011" Diameter threads with 18 threads per inch vertically and 16 threads per inch horizontally.
PHIFERGLASS® 18 x 14 Fiberglass Insect Screening
A stronger mesh, recommended for larger openings such as porches, pools and patios or where added strength is desirable.
PHIFER 20 x 30 Fiberglass Insect Screening
This tiny mesh offers the ultimate in insect protection and is recommended for "No-See-Ems" and other very tiny bugs.
Aluminum
insect screening is more durable than fiberglass and is used for aluminum or
wood window screens, screen doors and wood screen enclosures. It is available in
natural aluminum color, called Brite-cote®,
black and charcoal.
PHIFER BRITE-COTE® Aluminum Insect Screening
The standard of the industry. The aluminum finish is free of streaks, easy to fabricate and long lasting.
PHIFER BLACK Aluminum Insect Screening
The black finish is electrodeposition coated for strength and durability. Black aluminum is virtually invisible when looking out and is used when visibility is of prime importance.
PHIFER CHARCOAL Aluminum Insect Screening
The Charcoal finish is applied using the electrodeposition coating method. The finish is extremely strong and offers improved outward visibility and reduced glare.
Bronze
screening is made of 90% copper and 10% zinc. It weathers to a beautiful dark
bronze finish and is an excellent choice for inland and costal regions.
Phifer
PetScreen® is woven of extremely
strong and durable vinyl-coated polyester yarns. PetScreen®
is seven times stronger than regular insect screening and resists damage by dogs
and cats. The uniform weave design and thread spacing offers excellent
outward visibility and good ventilation.
